Psalm on a Theme               October 6, 1926

O God, open Thou my mouth,
and my lips shall speak forth Thy praises.
O God, open Thou my heart,
and my nostrils shall breathe forth Thy praise.
O God, open Thou my mind,
and my hand shall record Thy praise.
O God, lighten Thou my soul,
and mine eyes shall shine forth Thy praise.
O God, lighten Thou my being,
and my deeds shall reflect Thy praise.
O God, replenish Thou my strength,
and my helping hand shall lead others to praise.
O God, whose being is Love,
may that Love move me to praise.
O God, whose being is Harmony,
may Thy Peace move me to praise.
O God, whose being is Beauty,
may all Beauty move me to praise.
O God, in all forms may I see Thee,
and all forms lead me to praise.
O God, in the formless may I know Thee,
and that knowledge lead me to praise.
O God, may I see Thee in Heaven,
and that sight lead me to praise.
O God, may I see Thee on Earth,
and that, too, move me to praise.
O God, may I see Thee in Silence,
and Silence move me to the highest of praise.
O God, lead Thou me onward,
my whole being enwrapped in Thy praise.
