Two recently posted Sufi videos

NEW VIDEO online: "Love's Caravan: Sufism in the West" Taken in 2008 at the Sufi Conference in Monterey and featuring Sheikh Llewellyn Vaughan-Lee, Imam Bilal Hyde, Maata Lynn Barron, Pir Shabda Khan, and Pir Zia Inayat Khan, with musicians including Huzur Nawaz on ney and K. Sridhar on sarod.

This excellent short film explores some of Sufism's central themes: its relationship with Islam, the transformative nature of divine love, the practice of the dhikr (zikr), the intimacies of the heart and the tradition of the awliya. Pir Shabda leads dances and talks about this form.

The 16 minute video is also available on Vimeo. Accompanying videos include several worthwhile interviews. In particular check out The Dances of Universal Peace and Interview with Pir Shabda Kahn.

Another fascinating historic video has recently come our way, taken at the 1972 Chamonix Sufi camp led by Pir Vilayat, with mostly French narrative. See and hear Allaudin Mathieu and the original Sufi Choir (starts at the 16 minute mark) and many familiar faces from our Ruhaniat family (just subtract 43 years!)
