SUFI GUIDEBOOK TO THE 99 BEAUTIFUL NAMES OF ALLAH

Ya Rahman! Ya Rahim! Reciting and meditating upon the Qualities of Allah, the 99 Beautiful Names, is a central Sufi practice in our lineage -- opening the way to spiritual growth by way of attunement to the divine qualities already living in us. As you may have heard, Murshid Wali Ali, Pir Shabda, Imam Bilal and Faisal Muqaddam and others have been meeting for the past several years to collaborate in the writing of a comprehensive guidebook to the Names, and completion is now in view. Our Hazrat Inayat Khan URS Celebrations at his Dargah in Mother India and our group is complete. Far too much happened to report but I will try and share some highlights.

Long before the URS began, the planning and hosting of the gathering was managed by Murshid Nawab Pasnak from the International Sufi Movement, Masheik Hassan Suhrawardi Gebel of the Sufi Order International, Murhsid Kirin Rana of the Sufi Way and myself for the Ruhaniat. It became a great strength to share our resources and skills in manifesting this first ever co-hosted URS at Hazrat Inayat Khan's URS.

In the recent Tunisian movie 'Bab' Aziz', an old, blind dervish and his granddaughter make their way on foot across the desert, guided only by Allah, to a distant Sufi gathering or jamiat. In our world we are blessed to have a far more convenient annual opportunity to get together with other mureeds on this path, for what is called the Jamiat Ahm. This year we will gather in Arcata, California April 8th-11th, for ENLIVENING PRACTICE, A Gathering for Mureeds, and Guests by Invitation, with Pir Shabda Kahn, Murshida Taj Inayat, Murshid Wali Ali Meyer and more! The Federation of the Sufi Message is a non-hierarchical umbrella organization of Sufi Orders united in their devotion to the spiritual lineage of Hazrat Inayat Khan and the Sufi Message. Formed in 1997, the Federation includes the International Sufi Movement, the Sufi Order International, the Sufi Way, Sufi Contact, Fraternity of Light and the Sufi Ruhaniat International. There have been ten years of annual Federation leadership gatherings; however for 2010 the Federation Gathering, hosted by the Ruhaniat, will initiate a new model as a Retreat/Camp type of gathering with Senior teachers from each order offering teachings open to all.

With the growth and diversification of the Ruhaniat during recent years, it has become clear that we needed a new Internet vehicle, and much thought and planning has gone into this project! Our new web site is based on a Content Management System called Joomla. What you see on this site has been created cooperatively by Sufi Ruhaniat leaders and teachers all over the world.
