News of the Ruhaniat, Spring 2015: Dargah project update!
Another fascinating historic video has recently come our way, taken at the 1972 Chamonix Sufi camp led by Pir Vilayat, with mostly French narrative. See and hear Allaudin Mathieu and the original Sufi Choir (starts at the 16 minute mark) and many familiar faces from our Ruhaniat family (just subtract 43 years!)
Read a new message from Murshid Wali Ali and request for support and prayers. With a timeline of several years in the future, a dedicated team is supporting the author in creating a complete biography of this remarkable being. "I wholeheartedly invite you to generously donate to the funding of the Murshid SAM Biography Project. Any size donation is appreciated, and if it is $200 or more we will send you, as a gift, a personally signed book when the first hardcover edition comes out. Thank you for your inner and outer support. Love and Blessings, Wali Ali Meyer"
Open Gathering of the Ruhaniat in Ohio this coming April. Come all!
The annual Jamiat Aam of the Sufi Ruhaniat Internationa will be held in April. Al Jami is to gather, to bring together, weaving the community into wholeness. This gathering is open to anyone who feels drawn to discover what Sufism is, and to those who want to deepen in the practices with fellow mureeds and teachers of the Ruhaniat: April 9-12 2015 at the Martin de Porres Center in Columbus, Ohio USA. Flyer and registration form.
New Ruhaniat-UK web site: events in England, Scotland, Wales & Northern Ireland
Murshid Saadi writes, we now have a UK Ruhaniat website with a schedule of events and recordings from past retreats to listen online or download. It can be found at: www.ruhaniat.org.uk. The new site is lovingly curated by Sufi brother and webmaster Chris Granger -- alhamdulillah!
The Hope Project, India: a new report
Here is the current report from Richard Cuadra, a long-time Ruhaniat member and currently the Hope Project Board President. This project, which we join with other Sufis in supporting, provides community health services, child care, educational programs, a thrift and credit program, and a women’s micro-enterprise unit in India, where it was inspired as a response to the poverty and other hardships in the community surrounding the shrine of Hazrat Inayat Khan. The generous support from our Sufi family is much appreciated. Donations in the US are through the Children's Ashram Fund and are tax-deductible. Please pray for this work, and consider being a Friend of Hope.
The Parliament of World Religions, October 2015
In Salt Lake City next October, the Parliament of the World's Religions will gather together thousands of participants from dozens of faiths -- "to cultivate harmony among the world's religious and spiritual communities and foster their engagement with the world and its guiding institutions in order to achieve a just, peaceful and sustainable world." The first such Parliament meeting in the U.S was held in 1893 and has been called 'the birth of formal interreligious dialogue worldwide'. Pir Shabda will be there as well as dozens of other Sufis. His Holiness The Dalai Lama and Dr. Karen Armstrong will present, and probably Amma. There is a pending proposal to have the Dances of Universal Peace included as an activity! Narayan, Jen and Sky Majida have worked very hard on it and are hopeful of its acceptance. Please add any positive thoughts you can to its journey through their review process! As Sky Majida writes, "may we begin to weave a web of love, harmony and beauty now, to share at this world event in ten months." To connect with those attending, follow the DancingPeace email group (how to join).
