Greetings of Peace to all!
As a friend and seeker within the lineage of Murshid Samuel Lewis and Hazrat Inayat Khan, I have been fortunate to explore the truth of Sufism for thirty years. Married for fifty-two years, I am a mother of four and grandmother of six.
For more than two decades, my spiritual path has met my life’s work in hospice care. As I continue to offer companionship and support to families and friends, it is an honor to be invited into the mystery and activity of Presence during this most intimate transit.
My initial encounter with Sufi practice and this "Alchemy of the Heart" occurred at the Lama Foundation, an ecumenical spiritual community in the mountains of northern New Mexico. Drawn by the spirit of Be Here Now, my family relocated to Lama in 1984. It was through the training and transmissions of the many teachers on the mountain that my life’s path and devotion to classical Sufism in Islam began to emerge.
In addition to encountering the Baraka of Murshid Sam through his walks and dances while working with the alchemical prayers of Hazrat Inayat Khan, I found Lama and its curriculum to be a profound catalyst for spiritual awakening.
I had the privilege of engaging with numerous teachers and friends dedicated to their respective mystical traditions, including Reb Zalman, Pema Chödrön, Father Thomas Keating, Saadi Neil Douglas-Klotz, Stephen Levine, Ram Dass, and Jack Kornfield.
In the years that followed and continuing to this day, I am a lifelong student of Imam Bilal Hyde and carry transmission of holy gratitude for my beloved teacher and Lama friend, Murshida Asha Greer.
Upon leaving Lama in 1997, our family moved to California. As a householder and hospice clinician, the Lama training in authentic listening, "Keeping the Heart," and cultivating Presence not only acted as a rudder for stability but also provided great tools in assisting the communities I was asked to serve.
One of these is an ongoing relationship with the Ruhaniat’s Golden Gate Sufi Circle, sharing the joy of service and stretching “the view of Self” as a manager and teacher at the Mendocino Sufi Camp.
Following the transformational shake-up of COVID 2020, we were guided to move to Denver, Colorado, with the intention of returning to New Mexico. This has allowed me to re-engage with the Lama community, where I currently serve on the Board of Trustees.
I am honored to be recognized as a Murshida by the Murshids' Circle. It is a blessing to join those committed to this living message of Love, Harmony, and Beauty. Guided by the precious teachings and transmissions of Murshid Samuel Lewis and Hazrat Inayat Khan, I am listening for how best to serve.
My prayer is to be of benefit in this capacity. Taking refuge in our companionship, with aspirations for healing, love, and compassion toward All Beings everywhere, I look forward to dancing within the "all of Us."…as You!
